NEW ROLES FOR EWAN MCGREGOR, ORLANDO BLOOM, MARCIA CROSS, TOM HARDY, DANIEL CRAIG AND A LIVE ACTION "LITTLE MERMAID"

A whole bunch of Hollywood gentlemen is trying to get a role in "The Sweeney" according to "The Daily Mail". "The Sweeney" will be a big screen version of the 70's British crime drama, and apparently Tom Hardy, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom and Daniel Craig all want a part in it. "The Sweeney" was a British television police drama focusing on two members of the Flying Squad, a branch of the Metropolitan Police specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London. The programme's title derives from "Sweeney Todd", which is Cockney rhyming slang for "Flying Squad". As it turns out Ray Winstone and Michael Fassbender were previously supposed to play the two main detectives, but apparently Fox wants a bigger name now to star alongside Winstone.

On another front, our favourite Desperate Housewife, the refined beauty Marcia Cross has scored a role in "Bringing Up Bobby" with Milla Jovovich, a directorial debut by Famke Janssen which will follow a European con artist and her 10-year-old son who will try to escape her past and build a better future going through a myriad of adventures until the mother's criminal past catches up with her. Bill Pullman and Marcia Cross will play the parents who adopt the son.

And this is not a casting news but Joe Wright ("Pride and Prejudice", "Atonement", "Hanna") is planning to direct a live-action version of "The Little Mermaid", the famous Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale about beautiful mermaid which leaves her underwater kingdom for the love of a human prince. I'm nominating Emily Blunt for the role :)

  1. OOOO The Little Mermaid would be VERY neat. I love Emily Blunt in anything. She was brilliant in The Young Victoria (one of my new favorites!). And I'd love to see Ewan McGregor do another musical... his singing voice is incredible.

  2. yep, Emily is always amazing, even in the films I didn't like, and Ewan probably has the most warm and kind voice ever, and I'd also die to see him in a musical again, or even to record an album of his own :)

  9. A live action Little Mermaid? WOW, I'm curious to see how that pans out, I LOVE the Disney version. Emily Blunt would make a smashing Ariel, now who should play Eric, the love of her life? :)

    glad you like it :)

    @Nadir
    oh, yes, we haven't seen Bill quite a long time now.

    @Flixy
    well, there's no doubt that John Krasinski should get the prince role - wouldn't it be absolutely adorable for him and Emily to play an on-screen couple as well? :))) Especially since both of them are sinfully gorgeous and would fit the roles perfectly.

    @RaShelle
    glad I made your day :) but to disappoint you, only one of them will get the role, not all three of them. And, yep, tats really look great on some people.

  12. The fact that the threee of them *want* to be on it, definitely increases the expectation for the movie, TPTB must be happy so far.

    What is it with making action-life every single story of Disney, I'm not really complaining, 'cause I would go to see it but I feel like there's not much imagination to create knew things and less animated Disney movies like the old great ones. (Comments like this make sound old, lol).

    OML :)

    well, after the success of ALICE IN WONDERLAND Hollywood has gone a bit crazy for fairy tale live action adaptations, so we shall see quite a lot of them in the future.

    @Ellie

    @Nicole
