FIRST TRAILER FOR "THOR". JAMES CAMERON AND GUILLERMO DEL TORO JOIN FORCES "AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS".

The first treat for today is a new magical poster for Zack Snyder's upcoming fantasy epic "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga Hoole". The movie which tells the epic tale of an unusual world in which owls are heroes and warriors fighting for honour and peace, shot in brilliant new animation technique, is out this September with voices from Helen Mirren, Hugo Weaving, Geoffrey Rush, Abbie Cornish, Jim Sturgess, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Neill...

Second movie treat for today is an update on Guillermo Del Toro's new project. With the help of James Cameron, who will produce his next film, Del Toro will adapt "At the Mountains of Madness" a tale by H.P. Lovecraft. The movie will bring a chilling recollection of an Antarctic expedition's uncanny discoveries and their encounter with an untold menace in the ruins of a lost civilization.

Thanks to "MovieWeb" today's most delicious treat is the first exclusive trailer from "Thor" which was presented at ComicCon. Don't miss the stunning Odin's palace and court over at Asgard, which looks larger than life. Judging from the trailer I must admit I don't like any of the actors in these roles except the Thor, Chris Hemsworth himself, but the movie sure does seem like a really really really big thing coming to us in May 2011.

  1. That At the Mountains of Madness is just spectacular news, truly excited for the film! Guillermo's done this for ages, way before he was such a big name.

  3. I love having a May birthday! They always give me the blockbusters as gifts!!

    I don't know, I think that trailer looked kickass. But Natalie Portman? Didn't realize she was in it.

    the movie geeks have gone crazy over that piece of news today :)))

    @Avalon
    yes, both this one and the character posters I've published earlier this month are adorable :)

    @Summer
    mine is in April,and I usually get something nice from Zack Snyder (300, WATCHMEN) :)))
    Yep, I agree that Natalie Portman is a bad choice for the role.

  5. Hemsworth looks pretty awesome, what I envision Thor to look like.

    It's just...Marvel's vision of the Norse Pantheon and mine are vastly different.

    And...um...why is Loki referring to Odin as "father"? His father was Farbauti.

    And Sif was supposed to be blond. The whole "golden hair of Sif" means nothing to the casting department.

    *sigh*

    But it's Kenneth Branaugh. So I have to watch it.

  6. yep, Hemsworth really is a true Thor, he's tall like a giant. As far as I got it from the trailer Loki will inherit Odin's throne, so I guess they are a father and a son in the movie. I'd also like much more blond people in the cast :(((

    But it's Kenneth Branagh, so I have to watch it too :)))

  7. OMG!! A Lovecraft film!?! They better not ruin it. If it's done right this could be amazing.

  8. Thor trailer looked amazing!
    And excited that it is Del Toro who will do the Lovercraft film. I've only seen one film that captured the essence of Lovercraft's work (out of dozens of pathetic attempts) and would love to see a movie embrace his style to the fullest.

  9. Once upon a time I thought the Thor film would be bad. Then I saw this trailer and everything changed. That was absolutely amazing!!!!! Thanks a lot Dez, just turned this s*** up to 11!

    glad you're excited about it :))

    @Alex
    I must admit I heard about Lovercraft but never read anything from him. This one sounds intriguing and mysterious.

    @Bryan
    oh, so I did a good deed today :))

  11. The Thor movie looks very faithful to the original Lee/Kirby comics, so it necessarily plays fast and loose with the characters' mythological origins. It is a Marvel movie after all :-)

    As for At The Mountains Of Madness, Del Toro will be a good fit in purely visual terms, but I'll be interested to see how he handles the original story's extremely thin plot and almost total lack of characterisation. Should be interesting...

  12. I just hope there won't be too much blood over at that mountain of madness :((

  13. Mmmmm, Thor looks good and the Owls of Ga Hoole - i'm interested in seeing that too. =D

  14. Don't know about the owls, but the Lovecraft sounds interesting. The Thor mix of mythical and earthly sounds like an interesting concept.

  16. The Thor trailer was awesome! The casting of Hemsworth is perfect! This is starting to look like one of Marvel's best efforts yet! Can't wait!

  20. My 9yo loves the Guardians of Ga'Hoole or as I call them the guardians of gabagoole. I will probably see this one in the theatre.

  21. Budd, I'm sure both you and the junior will enjoy THE GUARDIANS OF GABAGOOLE a lot! :)

  22. Nice poster for Guardians. :)

    Mountains of Madness could be interesting.

    Excellent choice for Thor (at least physically). Trailer looks good. Asgard looks good, but a little too shiny. Costumes for all Asgardians still look plastic. They remind of children's action figure toys.

  23. when it comes to the costumes in THOR, I must admit I really like Odin's eyepatch, it's sooo cool :)))

  24. That Thor Comic-Con trailer left me quite bewildered. I really want to like this movie as I've blogged about it quite a bit, so hopefully the official trailer will be better.
